Diarmuid Fitzgerald

iron bridge –
in the space between the beams
flickering sunlight

a shirtless man
with rippling abs and tanned skin
hocks then spits

gentle crinkle
of leaves underfoot
wind waves through the boughs

in the marches
without my map –
joyously lost

the long grass
tickles my bare feet
touching memories

the river –
lashed with rain
open to the drops
