THE DEAD FRIENDS – A WEST CORK TALE

THE DEAD FRIENDS is a six-episode podcast MEMOIR by Dave LORDAN, hosted by the DUBLIN INQUIRER, weekly from wednesday Sept 26.

The Dead Friends kicks off at a party in a bedsit in Dunmanway during mushroom season in 1993. Five teenagers from WEST CORK are there – a curehead, a couple of ravers, a punk, & a mod. Only the CUREHEAD – Dave Lordan – is left on this Earth in 2018.

The other four youngsters are now TRAGICALLY passed – & not a trace of any of them – apart from one CORONERS REPORT – can be found on the internet. Until now.

The Dead Friends delves into each of the four Dead FRIENDS lives, & each of their DEATHS, in turn – before reaching its mindblowing, DEMON-haunted climax in Gatsby’s ‘niteclub’.

The PODCAST serves as a poignant obituary for the four Dead Friends, & also ranges widely over an eclectic range of YOUTH & west cork related subjects, from west cork’s world-historic victory over the British Empire in 1919-21, to the ideal way to prepare & enjoy magic MUSHROOMS with your friends.

It is also a kind of People’s History of that head-spinning time, in that fast-changing part of the world.

If you like hallucinations, true ghost stories, demonology, guerilla warfare, shipwrecks, the Virgin Mary, SAM MAGUIRE, Robert Smith, Tom Barry, Dub Reggae, Diesel Hash or CHAMPAGNE CIDER, this is the podcast for you.

The Dublin Inquirer Online will be hosting THE DEAD FRIENDS as a six-episode audiotale weekly from Wednesday 26th September until HALLOWEEN.

After Halloween THE DEAD FRIENDS will be available as an AUDIOBOOK & EBOOK FREE GIFT to subscribers to Dave Lordan’s Patreon, which is launching late September and offering a wide range of audio/video/e-books & online creativity courses for as little as 2.50 a month subscription.

Anybody interested in DIY/PUNK/RAVER/SMALL TOWN PROLE youth culture in the West of Ireland, in the just-before-the-internet period of The Stone Roses, Spiral Tribe & New Age Travellers will enjoy The Dead Friends!
